     Ruth Barnard was born on 16 October 1651 in Salisbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Essex County.^2,3 She was the daughter of Thomas Barnard and Eleanor (?)^2,3 Ruth Barnard married Joseph Peaslee, son of Joseph Peaslee and Mary Johnson, before 1672 in Haverhill, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Essex County.^1,4,5 Ruth Barnard died on 5 November 1723 in Haverhill, Province of Massachusetts Bay, at age 72.^2,4

     Thomas Whittier was born circa 1620. He might have been born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.^3,2,4 He was the son of Richard Whittier and Mary Rolfe.⁵ Thomas Whittier married Ruth Green in March 1645/46.² Thomas Whittier died on 28 November 1696 in Haverhill, Province of Massachusetts Bay.^2,6,4
     He immigrated in 1638 Confidence. He immigrated with his uncles John and Henry Rolfe; he was called the "servant" of John, probably indicating that he needed to work off the cost of his passage.^3,2,4

     Ruth Green was born in 1626 in England.² She married Thomas Whittier, son of Richard Whittier and Mary Rolfe, in March 1645/46.³ Ruth Green died on 7 July 1710 in Haverhill, Province of Massachusetts Bay.^4,5
     Ruth was also known as Rolfe.²

Compiler's note: Ruth Green is often identified as Ruth Rolfe, daughter of John and Joanne (Coles) Rolfe. but that is questionable. According to Henry Rolfe, the town records of Haverhill identify her as Ruth Green. He also reports that the will of John Rolfe mentions 3 daughters, but none named Ruth, though he does make a bequest to the children of Thomas Whittier who he calls "my sister's son."⁶

     Joseph Greeley was born on 5 February 1651/52 in Salisbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Essex County.^1,2 He was the son of Andrew Greele and Mary Moyse.² Joseph Greeley married Martha Wilford, daughter of Gilbert Wilford and Mary Dow, on 5 February 1694/95 in Haverhill, Province of Massachusetts Bay.^3,4,5,2 Joseph Greeley died on 7 March 1745 in Hudson, Province of New Hampshire, now Hillsborough County, at age 93.^1,2 He was buried in Hills Farm Cemetery, Hudson, Province of New Hampshire, now Hillsborough County.⁶
     Joseph was also known as Greele.

     Martha Wilford was born on 18 January 1669 in Bradford, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^2,3,4 She was the daughter of Gilbert Wilford and Mary Dow.² Martha Wilford married Joseph Greeley, son of Andrew Greele and Mary Moyse, on 5 February 1694/95 in Haverhill, Province of Massachusetts Bay.^5,6,3,4 Martha Wilford died on 21 February 1757 in Hudson, Province of New Hampshire, now Hillsborough County, at age 88.^1,4 She was buried in Hills Farm Cemetery, Hudson, Province of New Hampshire.⁷
     Compiler's note: There are many databases on the Internet that identify Joseph Greeley's wife as Martha Corliss. The Vital Records of Haverhill clearly show her identity as Martha Wilford, and the vital records of Bradford link her to her parents.

     John Corliss was born on 4 March 1647/48 in Haverhill, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Essex County.^1,3,2 He was the son of George Corliss and Joanna Davis.^3,2 John Corliss married Mary Wilford, daughter of Gilbert Wilford and Mary Dow, on 17 December 1684 in Haverhill, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^4,3,5,2 John Corliss died on 17 February 1697/98 in Haverhill, Province of Massachusetts Bay, at age 49.^1,2

     Mary Wilford was born on 18 November 1667 in Bradford, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^3,2 She was the daughter of Gilbert Wilford and Mary Dow.^2,1 Mary Wilford married as her first husband John Corliss, son of George Corliss and Joanna Davis, on 17 December 1684 in Haverhill, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^4,3,5,6 Mary Wilford married as her second husband William Whittaker on 23 January 1702/3.³ Her death date has not been found.

     Gilbert Wilford was born on 26 April 1644 in Bradford, Essex, England.^2,3 He married Mary Dow, daughter of Thomas Dow and Phebe Latly, in 1665 in Bradford, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^4,5 Gilbert Wilford died on 28 July 1676 in Bradford, Massachusetts Bay Colony, at age 32.²

     John Greenleaf Whittier was born on 17 December 1807 in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts.^2,1,3 He was the son of John Whittier and Abigail Hussey.^1,3 John Greenleaf Whittier died on 7 September 1892 in Hampton Falls, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, at age 84.^2,1
     He appeared on the 1850 Federal census of Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, in the household of his mother Abigail Hussey his occupation was listed as "poet."⁴ John Greenleaf Whittier appeared on the 1860 Federal census of Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, enumerated 28 July 1860 along with his wife Elizabeth and two children.⁵ He appeared on the 1870 Federal census of Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, enumerated 11 August 1870.⁶ He appeared on the 1880 Federal census of Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, enumerated 2 June 1880 in the houshold of Caroline and George Gate.⁷

     Paul L. Mann was born circa 1895. His birthdate is estimated from his age in the 1940 census.² He married Frances Harrop, daughter of George Bertrand Harrop and Florence Fox, before 1922.³ His death date has not been found.
