     William Hosford was born circa 1595 in Dorchester, Dorsetshire, England.1 He was the son of Job Hosford.3 William Hosford married as his first wife Florence Hayward on 25 January 1620/21 in Beaminster, Dorsetshire, England.1,4 William Hosford married Jane, widow of Henry Foulkes as his second wife after 1641.1 He died on 5 November 1657 in Tiverton, Devonshire, England.3
     He and Florence Hayward immigrated in 1633, arriving in Dorchester, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Suffolk County. Their son John traveled with them. Three daughters (Hester, Sarah and Joanna) were also in their party.2,1 William Hosford became a freeman on 1 April 1634 in Dorchester, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Suffolk County.1,2 He returned to England permanently in 1654.1
