Walter Butler1
b. 1752, d. 20 October 1781
Walter Butler was born in 1752 in Johnstown, Province of New York, now Fulton County.1 He was the son of John Butler and Catherine Brat.1 Walter Butler died on 20 October 1781 in Mohawk Valley, Westmoreland County, Connecticut, now Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in a skirmish with patriot troops led by Marinus Willett.1
Walter studied law and became a lawyer in Albany, Province of New York. At the beginning of the American Revolution, he escaped to Canada with other Torries. When his father formed Butler's Rangers, he joined the unit and was commissioned as a Captiain. In 1778, he led a company of Torries and Indians in the raid that became known as the Cherry Valley Massacre.1

Sarah Brown was born on 6 December 1654 in Salisbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Essex County.2,1 She was the daughter of Henry Brown and Abigail (?)1 Sarah Brown married Andrew Greeley, son of Andrew Greele and Mary Moyse, on 12 June 1673 in Salisbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Essex County.1,3,2 Sarah Brown died on 23 June 1727 in Salisbury, Province of Massachusetts Bay, at age 72.2

William Hale was born in 1568 in Kings Walden, Hertfordshire, England. His birth date calculated from an age of 66 at death per Robert Hale.1,2 He was the son of Richard Hale and Mary Lambert. William Hale married Rose Bond, daughter of George Bond and Winifred Leigh, before 1596 in Herefordshire, England.3,2 William Hale died on 27 August 1634 in Kings Walden, Hertfordshire, England.1,2
William had 9 children: Richard, William, Rowland, George, Alicia, Winefreda, Thomas, Anne and Dionisia. This Thomas is often thought to be the Thomas Hale who immigrated to Newbury, MA in 1635. See "Descendents of Thomas Hale" by Robert Hale for details on the proof that these were two different men.2

Rose Bond was born circa 1570 in Kings Walden, Hertfordshire, England, (estimated.)1 She was the daughter of George Bond and Winifred Leigh. Rose Bond married William Hale, son of Richard Hale and Mary Lambert, before 1596 in Herefordshire, England.1,2 Rose Bond died on 31 July 1648.1
