     He enlisted as Private, served at Lexington, Conccord, Bunker Hill and was at the surrender of Burgoyne, and served throughout the war. He was a scout most of the time, saw many battles, but was never wounded.³

     Ruth Stockwell was born on 21 September 1778 in Lancaster, Coos County, New Hampshire.^1,2 She was the daughter of Emmons Stockwell and Ruth Page.¹ Ruth Stockwell married as her first husband Oliver Hutchins circa 1800 (estimated date). They had two children (Alpheus and Polly).² Ruth Stockwell married as her second husband David Greenleaf, son of Bickford Greenleaf and Elizabeth Middleton, after 25 July 1808.^1,2 Ruth Stockwell died on 13 March 1856 at age 77. The Stockwell Genealogy says 1826.^1,2
     There was a Ruth Greenleaf enumerated in the 1850 census in Boston (17 Aug., roll M432_336, p. 82) but her age was listed as 82, too old for this Ruth.

     Emmons Stockwell was born on 1 September 1742 in Sutton, Province of Massachusetts Bay.^1,2 He was the son of David Stockwell and Mercy Emmons.³ Emmons Stockwell was baptized on 6 September 1742 in Sutton, Province of Massachusetts Bay.^2,4 He married Ruth Page, daughter of David Page and Priscilla Boynton, in 1765 in Walpole, Province of New Hampshire, now Cheshire County.^1,2 Emmons Stockwell died on 8 November 1819 in Lancaster, Coos County, New Hampshire, at age 77. He died from an accident.^1,2
     He was a pioneer settler of Lancaster, NH.⁵
