His first wife was Elizabeth Hinckes.1,3,2 Thomas Gross married as his third wife Jane Cole, daughter of William Cole and Hannah Snow, on 7 December 1721 in Eastham, Province of Massachusetts Bay, now Wellfleet.      Anthony Colby was born circa 1605 in Horbling, Lincolnshire, England. Some sources say he was from Beccles. Suffolk, England with royal ancestry, others from Lincolnshire. The ancestry listed here is one version and is not substantiated. Alternate birth date: 1590. Alternate parents: Thomas and Beatrice (Felton) Colby.2 He was the son of Thomas Colby and Anna Jackson. Anthony Colby was baptized on 8 September 1605 in Horbling, Lincolnshire, England.2 He married Susanna Haddon in 1631 in Boston, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Suffolk County.2 Anthony Colby died on 11 February 1659/60 in Salisbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, now Essex County.1,4,2,3,5,6
     He immigrated in 1630. He is supposed to have come with Winthrop.4,3,7,6 He became a freeman on 14 May 1634.4 He was a sawmill owner.2

Anthony Colby came from England to Boston, Mass in 1630, then moved to Cambridge, Mass in 1632, and to Salisbury, Mass in 1634, Ipswich in 1637 and Amesbury, Mass in 1647 where he was one of the first settlers.
