Green married Martha Morgan, daughter of Jesse Morgan and Mary Grant, on 1 December 1837 in Buncombe County, North Carolina.1,4 William S. Green died on 21 January 1898 in Buncombe County, North Carolina, at age 81.3,1 He was buried in Hominy Baptist Church Cemetery, Candler, Buncombe County, North Carolina.3
     William was also known as Williams.1 He appeared on the census of 1840 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. The household included 2 males 20-29, 1 male under 5, 2 females 20-29 and 1 female under 5.5 He was Farmer in 1850.6 He and Martha Morgan appeared on the 1850 Federal census of Buncombe County, North Carolina, enumerated 30 July 1850.6

The 1850 census listed a Jeremiah, age 16 living in William Green's household. He was not present in the 1860 census so his identity is unknown. He might have been a nephew.7 William S.
