     Janet Cochran was born in 1814 in Maryland.1,2 She was the daughter of William G. Cochran and Susanna M. McCannon.2 Janet Cochran married Moses Montrose Pallen, son of Solomon Pallen and Ziddora (?), on 9 April 1835 in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland.3,4 Janet Cochran died on 14 December 1884 in St. Louis, Missouri.1,5 She was buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.6
     Janet was also known as Jenetta Alexander.7 She and Moses Montrose Pallen appeared on the 1860 Federal census of St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri, enumerated 30 June 1860. Their children Emma, Salwin B., Edmund Gordon Edrington, James Y. and Isabelle B. were listed as living with them. His age was listed as 50, occupation as physician and birthplace as Virginia. 5 servants were also in the household.8 Janet Cochran and Moses Montrose Pallen appeared on the 1870 Federal census of 2916 Olive St., St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri, enumerated 13 June 1870. Their children Isabelle B., Salwin B. and James Y. were listed as living with them.9 Janet Cochran appeared on the 1880 Federal census of St. Louis, Missouri, enumerated 7 June 1880 in the household of Irwin Zebina Smith and Isabelle B. Pallen.10

William G. Cochran1,2

b. circa 1775, d. 28 March 1815
     William G. Cochran was born circa 1775 in Scotland. His birthplace was determined from his daughter Janet's recollection in the 1880 census. The DAR patriot index has his birth date as 1784.3,1 He married Susanna M. McCannon, daughter of James McCannon and Ann Worthington, on 16 April 1805 in Baltimore County, Maryland.4,5 William G. Cochran died on 28 March 1815 in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland.6,7
     He immigrated , arriving 1802 in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland.8 He appeared on the census of 1810 in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland.9 He was a merchant in Baltimore and secretary of the Baltimore Insurance Company.2 William G. Cochran served in the war of 1812 as a private.10 On 3 April 1816, a petition to partition the estate of William G. Cochran by Susan Frances Cochran, William Wallace Cochran, Susan Cochran, Jenetta Alexander Cochran, James McCannon Cochran, Ann McCannon Cochran, and Essu Dunbar Cochran was filed in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland.11

Susanna M. McCannon1

b. 1787, d. between 7 August 1850 and 6 February 1854
     Susanna M. McCannon was born in 1787. Her daughter Janet's entry in the 1880 census says that Susanna was born in England.1,2 She was the daughter of James McCannon and Ann Worthington.1 Susanna M. McCannon married William G. Cochran on 16 April 1805 in Baltimore County, Maryland.3,4 Susanna M. McCannon died between 7 August 1850 and 6 February 1854 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
     She left a will on 9 January 1850 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She wrote the last codcil on this date.5 She appeared on the 1850 Federal census of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, enumerated 7 August 1850 in the household of Edmund Gordon Erdington and Ann McCannon Cochran.6 Her will was proved/probated on 6 February 1854 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Her son-in-law Susanna M. McCannon was the executor.7
