He died while serving as governor of Illinois.1

     Sarah Elmira Grant was born on 16 January 1832.1,2 She was the daughter of William Grant and Sarah Elms.1 Sarah Elmira Grant married Silas Marion Morgan, son of Jesse Morgan and Mary Grant, on 10 March 1855 in McDowell County, North Carolina, They had three children.1 Sarah Elmira Grant died on 30 June 1859 in Buncombe County, North Carolina, at age 27. She died from complications of childbirth.1 She was buried in Hominy Baptist Church Cemetery, Candler, Buncombe County, North Carolina.2
