     In the French and Indian attack on Deerfield, Deacon Hoyt, his wife Abigail and 4 children were taken into captivity and carried off to Canada. One son was killed on the road. Deacon Hoyt died of hunger near the lower Cohoes. The widow returned to her home in Deerfield by 1708.¹
