Compiler's notes: Many on-line databases have John the son of Samuel Symonds and Dorothy Harlakenden, however the dates don't make sense. Also, no son John was mentioned in Samuel's will.1,2,3 He was the son of John Symonds and Katherine Smythe.4 John Symonds was baptized on 15 October 1594 in North Walsham, Norfolk, England.5 He married as his first wife Ruth Fox, daughter of John Fox and Catherine Crickemer, on 1 May 1624 in Walcott, Norfolk, England.4 John Symonds married as his second wife Elizabeth (?) in 1637.1 John Symonds died on 16 August 1671 in Salem, Massachusetts Bay Colony.1,3
He was a cooper and a joiner.1 He and Ruth Fox immigrated on the Primrose, departing from Gravesend, England, arriving 27 July 1635 in Massachusetts Bay Colony. Their children Katherine, Ruth and James traveled with them.6 John Symonds became a freeman in March 1638.7 He left a will on 16 August 1671.1 His will was proved/probated on 19 September 1671.1
