     John Mason Grant was born on 14 June 1817 in Litchfield, Litchfield County, Connecticut.^1,2,3 He was the son of Charles Grant and Hannah McNiel.⁴ John Mason Grant died in 1878 in Florida.^4,2
     He graduated from Yale University, New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut, in 1839. He was a congregational minister.

     Isabella Hasbrouck was born on 21 October 1809. She was the daughter of Jonathan and Phoebe (Field) Hasbrouck of Newburgh.^1,2,3 She married as her first husband Rev. David L. Proutfit before 1842.^4,2 Isabella Hasbrouck married as her second husband Charles William Grant , son of Charles Grant and Hannah McNiel, in 1858 in New York, New York County, New York.^1,2,3 Isabella Hasbrouck died on 24 April 1906 at age 96.^1,3 She was buried in Hillside Cemetery, Peekskill, Westchester County, New York.³
     Isabella was also known as Israelen.³ She and Rev. David L. Proutfit had three children.³ Isabella Hasbrouck and Charles William Grant appeared on the 1860 Federal census of Haverstraw, Rockland County, New York, enumerated 17 July 1860.⁵
