Edward Dorsey1

Edward Dorsey was born in 1615 in England.1 He was the son of Edward Darsey.2 Edward Dorsey married Anne (?) before 1642 in Colony of Virginia estimated.1 Edward Dorsey drowned before 2 August 1659 in Chesapeake Bay, off Kent Island, Province of Maryland, now Queen Anne's County.1,3
He and Anne (?) immigrated in 1642, arriving in Colony of Virginia, now Norfolk County. His name appears in deeds and land patents in Lower Norfolk County, Virginia between 1642 and 1648.1 He was one of the founders of Annapolis. Edward Dorsey was a boatwright. He moved to Province of Maryland in 1650.1
The three sons of Edward Dorsey were granted by Cecilius, Lord Baltimore, a plantation on Cabin Neck Branch of the south bank called "Hockey-in-the-Hole" some distance from the Severn. The 400 acres were granted to Edward Dorsey, boatright, before his death. The name of "Hockey" is from an estate in County Middlesex, England.1
