     Edward Gordon Herdman was born in January 1862 in Pictou, Nova Scotia, Colony of Canada, now Pictou County. He was the son of Rev. Andrew Walker and Elizabeth (Close) Herdman.^2,3 He married Mary Kimball Smith, daughter of Charles Smith and Sarah Willard Cole, in 1890.^2,3 His death date has not been found. He died in Massachusetts.⁴ Edward Gordon Herdman was buried in Needham Cemetery, Needham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.⁴

     Elsie A. Hill was born on 15 November 1845.¹ She married Owen Cole, son of Remick Cole and Mehitabel Clark, before 1867.² Elsie A. Hill died after 1886.
     She appeared on the 1860 Federal census of Dayton, York County, Maine, enumerated 5 June 1860 in the household of her mother Sarah L. Hill.³ She appeared on the 1870 Federal census of Dayton, York County, Maine, in the household of her in-laws Remick Cole and Mehitabel Clark.⁴ Elsie A. Hill and Owen Cole appeared on the 1880 Federal census of Hollis, York County, Maine, enumerated 22 June 1880. Their children Fred Remick, Frank Owen and Hettie were listed as living with them. Along with his mother Mehitabel Clark.⁵ Elsie A. Hill and Owen Cole appeared on the 1900 Federal census of Dayton, York County, Maine, enumerated 1 June 1900. Their children Frank Owen and Hettie were listed as living with them.⁶ Elsie A. Hill appeared on the 1910 Federal census of Dayton, in York County, Maine, in the household of her son Frank Owen Cole, along with two daughters Nellie Florence Cole and Annie Elsie Cole.⁷

     Fred Remick Cole was born on 1 October 1867.¹ He was the son of Owen Cole and Elsie A. Hill.^3,2 Fred Remick Cole married Mae Johnson circa 1887 3 other kids who died in infancy.⁴ Fred Remick Cole died on 9 August 1907 at age 39.¹

     Frank Owen Cole was born on 2 May 1870.¹ He was the son of Owen Cole and Elsie A. Hill.^3,2 Frank Owen Cole died in 1913.¹

She appeared on the 1900 Federal census of Biddeford, York County, Maine, enumerated 7 June 1900 boarding in the house of Mary Murray (?), along with her sister Annie..³ Nellie Florence Cole appeared on the 1910 Federal census of Dayton, in York County, Maine, in the household of her brother Frank Owen Cole.⁴ Nellie Florence Cole and Bartlett A.
