The rest of the images are all from our May vacation. The first day, we took a boat across Lake Erie to Point Pelee in Canada. These images were all taken there. I got a few birds, but the wildflowers were a lot easier - they don't move nearly as fast! |

Our last few days of vacation were spent in southern Ohio in an area called the Hocking Hills. We didn't get as much time as we had hoped to hike and photograph because of some rain, but we had a great time. |
||
These first six images are from Ash Cave. We had the place to ourselves for about an hour which was really magical. It has been a very dry spring in Ohio so there was very little water coming over the falls, but the the cave is still beautiful. We timed our visit well - as we were walking out, two school buses of 5th graders arrived... |

These images are from Cedar Falls |
||
The canyon |
Swallowtails puddling |
Cedar Falls |
This set is from Conkle's Hollow. This has been one of our favorite places in the Hocking Hills. Last year, the park service paved most of the trail to make it accessible. I understand why it was done, but I think the mystical feel of the canyon got lost in the process. |
||
The canyon walls are several hundred feet high |
A slump block along the path |
A little but of the original rough path remains |
There was just a trickle of water coming over the falls at the end |
Just before it started to rain... |
Lush ferns |
These last images are from Old Man's Cave. This is the upper falls. We never got to the lower falls because of the rain. Maybe next trip! |
